October 30, 2009, Newsletter Issue #3: Chicago Museums offer World Class Treasures

Tip of the Week

Chicago's downtown "museum campus" along the lake shore offer some fantastic treasures found no where else in the world. The Chicago Art Institute offers paintings that are exclusive to Chicago from artists such as Monet, Rembrandt, Picasso, Serat, Hoover as well as fantastic collections of armor and art from around the world.

Just blocks away located at the Field Museum, named for Marshal Field, a pioneer in Chicago and creator of Marshal Field's Department store is home to the World's most complete T-Rex skeleton which is over 90% complete! Other fantastic treasures are on display such as mummies, artifacts and sculptures from everywhere.

Across the street from the Field Museum is the fantastic Shedd Aquarium which is complete with whales, dolphins, a replica Amazon river & sharks! This is the World's Biggest aquarium and has been the leader in aquatic exhibits since the World's Fair in the late 1800s!

Not too far South is the Museum of Science & Industry which is great for kids and includes many interactive exhibits including the U505 submarine which was captured in World War II in an effort to sieze an Enigma decoder to capture Axis transmissions.
